Kind of still terrified of that whirlwind to invert, as I smashed my foot the last time I tried — I think I have a hairline fracture in my metatarsal :(
Daily reminder to stretch brought to you by Jenyne Butterfly.
Workshop with Hanka Venselaar last saturday at The Choreography House. I’m such a fangirl of her tricks and techniques (and her adorable Dutch accent)! We worked on lots of her cartwheel and handspring based moves like her Flying K to Twisted Grip Cartwheel, her Twisted Grip to Holly Drop, and sooo many more cool tricks.
If you’ve never seen her perform before, watch her Inno Alla Vita piece. It’s full of power moves that make you wish you were a former gymnast too.
My performance at The Vertitude’s Spring Fling Showcase 2013. I really enjoyed this performance and I’m thrilled it turned out so well. You totally can’t see me gasping for dear life!
I think I’m getting better at efficiently choreographing (or perhaps they’re all just pent up ideas that I’m finally letting out). My Pacific Pole Championship piece took 3+ months of choreography, my Secret Showcase performance took 3 weeks, and this one took a week and half. Yay!
An other AMAZING GIRL at pole dance.
SHE IS AMAZING. What a talent, and grace. She is so inspirational.
Gorgeous quality of movement!
Here’s my 2nd pole dancing performance! I’m told (fuzzy memory aside) that the poles were knocked 1/4th of an inch off, the trusses ended up carrying significantly uneven weight (one had 4 times the weight of the rest?), and 3-4 pins of stuff broke/fell loose during the performance. This makes me happy for some unexplained and adrenaline related reason, probably because it affirmed the necessity of the trusses for the performance. While I still have a lot to work on, I’m proud of this performance, particularly because it’s my first attempt at choreography and I intentionally avoided repeating any tricks from the first performance. While this is probably the last time I’ll ever try picking and choosing moves based on a prior performance, I’m happy that it came together.
Lastly, you’ll notice the youtube title. Yup, I’m using the video as my submission for the Pole Expo 2013 Pole Classic competition in Vegas this September. I’m trynig to compete in my first year of pole…very scary. But, why not? So please feel free to share this and show some youtube support to try to muscle them into letting me compete! Just kidding…maybe.
Great job and good luck on your submission! :)
My first at-home freestyle since December 2012. So happy to go back to just dancing in my living room, bridging that gap between what I learned in class and how my body would like to move. Hopefully I’ve shown some progress since my last video, too :)
More reverse fonji work. So hard to do it with straight legs!
A shot from the first practice of my pole/ballet piece at Dru’s place ^_^
I’m in love with your progress so far! We’re so close to finishing! <3
Successes from last week’s instructor jam at The Secret. The Batwing, Cheba/Lolo split, and The Anastasia — meaning that my Winter/Spring 2013 pole dance goals are COMPLETE! I’m hoping to film a freestyle soon with all of my new tricks *jumps around*
